We've got some exciting news to share...
The SpArC Bishops Castle pool is set to reopen on Friday 17th July!
After months of refurbishment and improvement works, we're getting ready to welcome you back through the doors and back into the water.
We know it's been a long wait, and we'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone for your patience, support and understanding while the work has been taking place. The pool has always been at the heart of our community, and we can't wait to see it full of swimmers, families, laughter and splashes once again.
A fresh new look
There's plenty to look forward to when you return.
Over the last few months, the pool has undergone a major transformation, creating a brighter, more modern and accessible space for everybody to enjoy.
Some of the improvements include:
A brand-new pool and poolside area
New accessible built-in steps for easier pool entry
A reduced pool depth, making the pool more accessible for a wider range of swimmers
Freshly repainted poolside areas
Upgraded changing facilities
A brand-new pool cover
Improved pool plant equipment to enhance water quality and sustainability
New lane ropes and swimming equipment
Fun floats for children (and adults who are still kids at heart!)
And don't worry – our much-loved mural is still looking as beautiful as ever
Behind the scenes, we've also installed a new all-electric heating system and completed important building improvements to help make the facility more energy efficient and sustainable for years to come.
Looking ahead
This project is about much more than a refurbished pool. It's about investing in the future of swimming in Bishops Castle and ensuring local people can continue to enjoy swimming lessons, family swims, fitness sessions and time together in the water for generations to come.
The improvements will also help introduce exciting new community swimming sessions, creating even more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get active, build confidence in the water and connect with others. The improvements have been made possible thanks to significant investment, partnership working and incredible support from the local community.
Swimming lessons returning
We're also pleased to confirm that swimming are restarting from the week commencing Monday 22 July.
Whether you're taking your first splash, working towards your next badge or bringing your little ones along for lessons, we're looking forward to seeing all our swimmers back in the pool.
We're also putting the finishing touches on an exciting new year-round swimming programme, with more details coming very soon.

As with any major refurbishment project, there are still a few final pieces of work to complete before reopening day. But don’t worry our team are working hard to make sure everything is ready for you to dive in on Friday 17th July.
This pool means so much to so many people, and we're incredibly grateful for the patience and encouragement you've shown throughout the closure.
